Rescuing History: Willards Farm Restoration
Willards Farm restoration is kicking off soon, saving this 1870s gem. It was almost demolished in 2016 but was rescued by Redland City Council for $1.45 million. Get ready for a blast from the past as they revive the farm, including the milking shed, creamery, garage, well, and water tank.
This is just the start of the Birkdale Community Precinct, a 62-hectare playground. The restored Willards Farm will be the gateway to the 2032 Brisbane Games and a hub for our community. Local heroes Baroque Group Pty Ltd will do the restoration, and it's expected to be completed by mid-2024. Cheers to preserving history! ๐๐ก๐ณ๐ทโโ๏ธ
Wheels and Wonders: Russell Island's $1.98 Million Upgrade!
Redland City Council just wrapped up a whopping $1.98 million makeover of the Russell Island car park next to the shiny new ferry terminal. They've added a cool 64 extra parking spots and jazzed it up with safety improvements for all of us who rely on wheels and feet. Think better traffic flow, special zones for taxis and heroes in emergency vehicles, and even a drop-off spot for buses. Plus, we've now got eight accessible parking spaces, eight motorcycle spots, and cute little bicycle racks. ๐๐ดโโ๏ธ๐ถโโ๏ธ
So, getting on and off the island just got a whole lot easier and safer. Way to go, Council! ๐
