Quick Holiday Update for Council Services Bins are still getting collected and parks are still being maintained, so day-to-day essentials are covered. Some council services are closed until Monday 5 January 2026, including libraries, RPAC, IndigiScapes, the art gallery and customer service centres. The animal shelter and visitor centre run on varied hours, so double-check online before heading over.

NYE Fireworks Are Going Big This Year Brisbane’s New Year’s Eve fireworks are going all out, with two shows at 7:45pm and midnight, plus drone displays at 9pm and 11pm. Expect barges, rooftops, river-wide effects and around 100,000 fireworks. If you want to get prime views across the river this New Year, South Bank, Kangaroo Point and Howard Smith Wharves is the place to be.

Manly Harbour’s NYE Fireworks Times Manly Harbour Village is lining up two fireworks shows for New Year’s Eve, giving everyone a chance to enjoy the sparkle. Families can catch the early show at 9.45pm, with a second display lighting up the sky at midnight to welcome 2026. Timing works around tides, locations and local wildlife.

Let’s Look After Our Loos This Christmas Public toilets across Redlands keep things running smoothly over the holidays, and most people do the right thing. But lately, a few have caused damage that has disrupted access and bumped up repair costs. If you witness any misuse or damage, please report it to policelink (131 444) or Crime Stoppers (1800 333 000). Reporting it will help get amenities fixed faster and keeps shared spaces safe for everyone.
