🔵 Know when your lights will be back on

Good morning, Baysiders

This week we have cyclone information at the start, and current events following that.
In today’s Redlands Round Up:
Post-Cyclone Information
Help Capalaba Tavern Catch These Vandals

CORRECTION TO LAST WEEK’S EDITION
We incorrectly published that Gislers Pies were providing free bread for the community, this caused a big strain on the The Nook as so many of you turned up. Apologies to our readers who went and to Gislers for enduring our communication error in a stressful period. Please support them, arguably the best pies in the Redlands!

Need a Hand After the Storm?
If you've been affected by the recent rough weather, there's a Community Recovery Hub open right now in Thornlands to help you out. They can assist with things like getting financial aid, finding emotional support, and connecting you with local services. The hub is at the Thornlands Dance Palais Hall and it's been open since yesterday through Sunday (March 16) from 9am to 4pm. More hubs will be popping up soon, so spread the word to anyone who might need some support!

Need a Safe Place Tonight? Here's Where to Go
If the wild weather from Ex-Tropical Cyclone Alfred has you needing a safe spot tonight, there are places of refuge open across the area. Remember, these are for folks who have nowhere else to go, so try to bunk with friends or family first if you can. Take only the essentials (meds, phone, etc.) and know that there's no food or pets allowed. Road access might be tricky, so stay safe! Check the full list of locations here

Stay Updated on Road Conditions
With all the crazy weather lately, roads are a bit of a mess. So before you hop in the car and head out, make sure to check the latest updates at www.qldtraffic.qld.gov.au. Stay safe out there and be extra careful, especially at intersections where the traffic lights might be out.

A Big Shout-out to Energex and Ergon Crews
These folks have been working like crazy in the aftermath of Cyclone Alfred, battling wild winds and rain to get the power back on for thousands of homes. They've already restored power to over half the homes affected, and they're still going strong! A huge thank you to these everyday heroes for keeping our community connected.

Local Hero Lending a Hand After the Storm
Big shout-out to Jared, an Ormiston resident who's been going above and beyond to help his neighbors clean up after the recent storm! He's been lending his muscles to lift heavy objects, clear fallen trees, and tackle all sorts of post-storm tasks. What a legend!
