Redlands Welcomes Fresh Faces on Australia Day Australia Day 2026 was extra special as 176 locals officially became Australian citizens. The ceremony was full of smiles, flags, and community spirit, marking a proud moment for new Aussies and their families. It’s a reminder of the rich diversity and welcoming heart of Redlands Coast.

Council Revamps Community Grants Redland City Council has shaken up its grants program! Two new funding streams are now open to support local not-for-profits and major community events. If you’ve got an idea to strengthen our neighbourhood, now’s the perfect time to apply and bring it to life.

SeaLink Launches Sponsorship Applications Local clubs and community groups, take note! SeaLink South East Queensland’s 2026 Community Waves Sponsorship Program is now open. You can apply for funding or in-kind support to help your events, programs, or projects thrive across the Southern Moreton Bay Islands.

Redlands to Host Junior State Cup Exciting news for local sports fans! Redlands Coast will host the Queensland Junior State Cup in 2026 and 2028. Expect heaps of young talent, buzzing sports venues, and a boost for local businesses. It’s a big win for families, tourism, and our community spirit.

Metro Expansion Pushed Back Brisbane’s Metro extension won’t reach our suburbs until after the 2032 Olympics, with the business case delayed to 2028. While it’s a wait, plans for better public transport are still on the radar, keeping the dream of faster trips to the city alive.

Redlands Kid Takes on the Nation

Big cheers for Sebastian Williams! The Sheldon College student has snagged 3rd place in the Under 8 Open at the National Chess Championships in Canberra. That’s a huge result on a national stage. Proof that big talent can come from right here in Redlands. Nicely done, Sebastian!

U23 Softball Hits Redlands

The Under 23 Men’s National Championships are landing in Redlands! Watch Australia’s best young softball talent go head-to-head, cheer on the Queensland teams, and soak up the action. It’s a week of sport, community vibes, and family-friendly fun right here at home.

National Softball Hits Ormiston
Where: Redlands Softball Association, Sturgeon Street, Ormiston
When: February 3–8, from 8:00 am daily
Big sport is coming to Redlands. The Under 23 Men’s National Softball Championships are being played right here in Ormiston. Teams are travelling from all over Australia, and locals can pop down to watch top-level softball and cheer on the Queensland team.
