Blue-Ringed Octopus Spotted at King Island
A blue-ringed octopus was spotted at King Island, Wellington Point this week by a local family during a walk. It's a timely reminder to watch your step in rock pools and shallow water areas across Redlands Coast. The blue-ringed octopus is one of the world's most venomous marine animals and can be deadly. They are small, well-camouflaged and their bright blue rings only appear as a warning when threatened.
If you see one: Do not touch. Back away slowly. Alert others nearby.
If bitten: Call 000 immediately. Apply a pressure bandage. The venom can cause paralysis and respiratory failure within minutes.

Quick News
"Duck-napped": Council's Perulpa Island removal sparks community backlash
A flock of 10 Muscovy ducks removed from Perulpa Island on March 27 has divided the community. Locals are accusing Redland City Council of "duck-napping" beloved island residents. Council says the removal followed complaints about hygiene, aggressive behaviour and risks to motorists. But Division 5 Councillor Shane Rendalls said the only complaints he'd received were about the removal itself. The ducks are currently held at the Redland Animal Shelter awaiting a decision on adoption or rehoming.
Battle of the Bayside: Capalaba Bulldogs sink Redlands United 2-1
Capalaba FC claimed derby bragging rights on the weekend. They came from behind to beat Redlands United 2-1 in a feisty Bayside derby. The Bulldogs conceded an own goal inside three minutes but fought back strongly in the second half. Redlands coach Graham Fyfe pointed to missed chances and a costly spell after half-time, plus an injury crisis that's left him without four defensive midfielders. Redlands look to bounce back at home against Robina next weekend.
